What is a Midwife?

A midwife is a trained professional specializing in pregnancy, labor, and childbirth. However, the role of a midwife goes far beyond just assisting in delivery. Our midwives at Monroe OBGYN are dedicated to guiding and supporting you through your entire pregnancy journey. Their comprehensive services include:

At Monroe OBGYN, our midwife is a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM), which means they are registered nurses with advanced training in midwifery. In addition to completing a degree in nurse-midwifery, they have passed rigorous national exams that allow them to practice across the country. With extensive medical training and hands-on experience in pregnancy, labor, and delivery, our midwives are fully equipped to provide expert care and guidance through your pregnancy.

Am I a Candidate for a Midwife?

Midwives are a wonderful option for women who are in good health and experiencing a low-risk pregnancy. If you are carrying one child and do not have any significant health concerns, a midwife can offer a more natural, personalized experience during labor and delivery. However, if your pregnancy falls into the high-risk category, our obstetricians may need to take a more active role in your care.
